Clinical Practice

Dr Olufemi Oshin (Femi) is a vascular surgeon providing vascular and endovascular services at Hollywood Private Hospital and Royal Perth Hospital. In addition to offering a comprehensive range of contemporary vascular techniques and services, Femi believes passionately in putting patients at the heart of everything he does. Recognising the relationship between holistic care, patient satisfaction and sustained health outcomes, he readily works collaboratively with General Practitioners, Hospital Specialists, Nurses and Allied Health professionals to ensure every patient receives consistent high-quality care.

Background and Training

Femi is an international and locally trained vascular surgeon. He graduated from Liverpool Medical
School in 2004 and after completing his training in vascular surgery, was appointed as a Consultant
Vascular Surgeon at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital- a leading UK tertiary
hospital with an international reputation for academic and clinical excellence. He emigrated to
Australia in 2017 to complete a Fellowship at Royal Perth Hospital, prior taking his current position as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon. In addition to his medical degree, Femi also holds the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree with Honours,
  • Postgraduate Doctorate for research in complex aortic aneurysm repair
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS)
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (FRACS Vasc) 

Femi is a prominent figure in vascular surgery. Early in his career he was instrumental in the
emergence of vascular surgery as a specialty in the UK and has represented his peers in various
prestigious organizations such as the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland, the British Society
of Endovascular Therapy, and the European Society for Vascular Surgeons in Training. He has also
pioneered educational opportunities in WA and was responsible for the first cadaveric Diabetic Foot
workshop in Australia, has been instrumental in developing Telehealth multidisciplinary foot clinic
for rural and remote communities, contributed to the National Association of Diabetes Centres'
quality improvement program, and is a founding member of the WA Foot Forum- a diabetic foot
collaborative that promotes high quality diabetic foot care.

Research

Femi’s commitment to clinical excellence is also reflected in his strong research interest, particularly diabetic foot disease and Limb Preservation. He is a recipient of research grants that support his research efforts, is currently leading a first in human clinical trial on wound healing and published over 30 peer-reviewed articles to date.
